The author excels at gripping the reader by the scruff of the neck and dragging them through every emotion his characters reveal. This book had me on the edge of my seat from the first chapters. Having his dream of playing football snatched away from him, Benny found interests elsewhere which were dark and damn dangerous for those around him! A great read with interesting character developments. I recommend this book but read Son of a Serial Killer first (book 1)
Can you say terrifying? That is what this book is...terrifying. I love author Jams N. Roses' works, and this one did not disappoint! It had me from the first chapter, and I had to finish as quickly as I could. Blood of a Serial Killer (Murder in the Genes Book 2) has it all great story and plot, and well-written characters. Can homicidal behavior be inherited? I don't want to give out any spoilers so all I can say is don't miss this one! I highly recommend.
This is a real thriller that'l have you on the edge of your seat and getting deeper and deeper involved - whether you want to or not. If you like your gruesome stories especially something in the vein of 'A History of Violence' then you'll love this. On the one hand your rooting for the protagonist Benny, on the other hand you're not. It's a conflict and makes for an incredible book. One to read without doubt.
I have to say I enjoyed Blood of a Serial Killer much more than Son of a Serial Killer - despite the fact that I *LOVED* the first book.
In this second chapter of the series, the plot thickens and the fast-paced writing is accompanied by dark secrets and twist and turn I've never imagined they'd happen.
Author Roses manages the thriller literary genre with absolute confidence and portrayed his characters in a superb way.
Definitely a book (and a series) I recommend to avid thriller readers.
Jams N. Roses has out-done himself again. Roses is at his best when he has created a twisted web of intrigue, violence, double cross, and mystery. You are kept turning the pages in this mystery thriller! Benny Jones quest for the truth will either give him a positive self- transformation or lead to a corruption of his own soul as a result of his own families deep, dark past. I am not giving any spoilers today, read yourself but one thing is most certain and true, Jams N. Roses continues to impress, this is powerful and gripping.

All of us who have bred animals or have twins or many siblings have learned this experimentally. Some will live through the inevitable debates when genes predisposing to homicidal behavior are identified. Out of this sobering concept, Roses crafts a chilling tale of a person with murder in his genes.
Benny Jones, turning eighteen, has never met his father. His mother, Eve, evaded his questions about his father, saying he's too young to understand.
When Benny finds out he carries the genes of a murderer, he understands his own behavior better. Intrigued, he explores his dark family history.He questions his grandmother, known to have been a killer called The Phantom who now lives in a mental hospital near his home.
Once Benny discovers his purpose in life, he leaves a trail of bodies behind....
Terrifying.
This was a fabulous follow up to Son of a Serial Killer, which I loved. This story focuses on Benny, a teenager looking for more information about the father he's never met. It starts with Benny when he's 13 and has a life changing event. It then jumps to around the time of his 18th birthday. As Benny finds himself and his place in this world, plot twists abound.
The story is fantastic, however it could have used a little better editing. There were several grammatical errors throughout the book. The biggest error I found was a continuity error when Eve encountered Summers. Benny was thirteen at the time. It was mentioned that the last time they'd talked was 19 years ago. From the previous book, the last time Eve encountered Summers was when she was pregnant with Benny. This would have worked with the part of the story where he's 18, but not 13. Aside from that glaring continuity error, I was able to get past the grammatical errors and fully enjoy this book. With better editing, this would have been 5 stars.
